Experience the culture and scenery “Kimono style” by taking a stroll around the breathtaking sights of Northern Shinshu (Nagano).

 

Hakuna Matata is located a short 3 minutes drive from Shinshu-Nakano IC (interchange) and is amidst Nagano’s greatest, most famous sightseeing hot spots including Yamanouchi (Snow Monkeys), Obuse, Nozawa Onsen (hot springs), Iiyama and Zenkouji temple.

 

Stunning scenery can be seen throughout the year with each season embracing its own unique display. In spring the locals celebrate hanami (flower watching) amongst the peak bloom of cherry blossoms. While in summer a Yukata can be worn to experience the spectacular hanabi taikai (fireworks competitions) as they light up the night sky. In autumn the mountains show off the magnificent fiery colours of the autumn leaves, with the winter dumping world-class powder snow out of which kamakura (igloos) are made.

Full kimono set (basic price): 4,900yen per day

All Kimono sets: 5,900yen

Men: 5,900yen

Yukata: from 4,500yen

Kimono hair style: from 1,500yen～

 

Terms & Conditions of Rental

・NO　Cards（カード不可）

・All prices are excluding tax.

・We have the authority to check your passport prior to rental.

・A deposit of 1500yen is withheld upon rental and refunded on return and inspection of the Kimono.

・If returning by postal delivery the 1500yen deposit will be kept as compensation.

・¥5,000 is payable for any loss or damage to the Kimono including any tobacco burns.

・Don't use perfume.

・Kimono sizes:

　Lady  145 cm~175 cm　 Waistline ~110 cm   foot  22 cm~26 cm

　Men   160 cm~185 cm     Waistline ~125 cm   foot 25 cm~28.5 cm

 

Staff can only speak basic English.

 

※What should I do when it’s cold?
・Since temperatures vary by season, please adjust accordingly with inner layers such as HeatTech. (Please use tops with a wide collar)
・NO card
・You may be asked to present an ID (driver’s license, health insurance card, etc.)
・When you visit the store, you will be asked to sign a consent form that clearly states the precautions for using rental kimonos.
・A compensation fee of 1,500 yen will be collected at the time of rental. (If the rental is not subject to compensation, it will be refunded upon return)

※What if it gets dirty…?
・There is no compensation fee for food spills or mud splashes. There is no charge for stains or damage that occur during normal use.

※What does compensation cover?
・Loss, irreparable stains, or damage (In the case of burns from cigarettes, an additional 5,000 yen may be charged)
・Perfume is prohibited. Note that fragrance transfer from perfume is also subject to compensation.
・If you cannot return the kimono by the store’s return time, please contact us by 5:00 pm. Even if you return it the next day, as long as we know the return time, it will not be covered under the compensation.

※Returning from places such as accommodations or convenience stores
・If you want to move around while wearing the kimono, returning it from another location is possible.
・The compensation fee can be converted into a return shipping fee, so we will provide a return case and form when you go out. Please ask the staff.
・If you have gloves, hats, scarves, or other items you want to use together, please bring them.
・For women, a long haori is available as an option (1,000 yen).
・Free stoles are also available for rental.

※Regarding luggage
・We can store personal baggage other than valuables. Please inform us in advance for large luggage such as suitcases (if after business hours, it will be returned the next day, so please be careful).
・Customers returning to the store can leave the clothes they wore at the store.
・If you use a taxi, parking is available.

※Regarding kimono sizes
・Women: 145cm–175cm, up to 110cm around the torso
・Men: 160cm–185cm, up to 125cm around the torso
・Foot size: 22cm–28cm

 

※Other Notes
- If you are significantly late for your reservation, you may not be able to receive certain options.
- During busy times, depending on your reservation time, we may not be able to accommodate you, so please make your reservation early.
